If I could rate it as a joke book I would give it a full five stars. As a legitimate book that would help someone - I would give it zero stars.First of all the "book" is really a pamplet that has a glossy cover. It looks as if it has been printed off a color printer from the late eighties. The author complies a list of every unscientific method ever thought of as a way to produce a male child. For example: following a chinese calendar, consuming caffine, etc. When she does talk on ovulation timing and the latter (which might actually help you), it is simply glossed over and no real depth is obtained. You walk away understanding there is a more biological method that has been scientifically proven but not how to track your ovulation or monitor you fertility signs as a woman. She is constantly quoting "experts" but the book doesn't contain a single cited source. Statistics are also thrown out but once again there are no sources to research studies that validate them. I felt an essay on a google search of "random ways to conceive a boy" had been dropped in my lap for a good laugh. The "book" is also filled with typos, adding to the very poor quality appearance.If you do not want to spend a lot of money on a joke for a friend, this is your book. It will make you laugh at all the silly things people have thought of to conceive a boy. You will also laugh that a book like this actually sells. Personally, we had fun quoting the uncited and unnamed experts.If you are serious in looking for a book that will help you understand how to up your odds for a boy, then I would recommend one that focuses on ovulation timing. I have read Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of your Fertility" which delves into understanding the female body and how to detect ovulation. She also talks briefly on timing intercourse with ovulation to help up the odds for a boy or girl. I think a book which deals with the biological aspect would actually be helpful in not only understanding your own body but in helping you get the gender you desire.
