## Description

My Skinny Rice is a Basmati rice that has a light non sticky texture that doesn’t weigh heavily on your system. My Skinny Rice is grown in a single estate rigth at the foothills of the Himalayas. After harvest My Skinny Rice goes through a unique par boiling and aging process where 80% of the nutrients are transferred from husk to grain, ensuring a low G.I (52) while naturally enhancing valuable vitamins and minerals during the 2 year aging process. We do not buy our rice or genitically modify it or compromise it in any way. Taste great.

Review: For weight loss- the lowest carb rice you can get, and great rice to boot! - My Skinny Rice, along with carba-nada pasta, are KEY to helping me maintain a lower-carb, low GI, diabetes friendly ketogenic diet. I've been reading up on it, and the foods you consume before carbs, as well as with them, also have an effect on carbs' glycemic load and how they're processed (stored or burned). For example, eating a low-carb, fiber rich salad before or along with the main course will help you stay in ketosis (carb-burning mode). Of course you can't overdue it- I try to stick to a cup or so of this rice. In any case, along with a focus on healthy fats, omega 3's and 9's (and NO saturated fats or processed foods), I have steadily lost weight, averaging like a pound every two days for the last month, since beginning monitoring carbs and glycemic values. Amazing. Before this the weight stubbornly refused to budge. I love fried rice and even if I indulge in that every once in a while, with this rice I go back to ketosis (as measured by urine test strips) in a single day rather than several. Awesome. I'm a long-time basmati eater (a lover of Indian food), and in terms of flavor and texture this ranks right up there with the best varieties. It's aged for two years; the highly respected Lacademie gives it very high marks, listing it as one of the best and healthiest basmati brands on their website. The grains are firm, distinct, separate, never sticky, and only slightly less fragrant and flavorful than the best brands. Someone described this rice as "grassy"- I would describe it more as having basmati's characteristic nutty flavor and fragrance, heavenly. I don't find it necessary to rinse it before cooking- it's clean, pristine. I live at 7200 feet and for some reason, have to use less water rather than more with this rice. The package calls for 2 cups of water to one cup of rice- I reduce that to 1 3/4 cups of water. I love this rice- it's become a staple for me, and I'm so grateful for it, for its health benefits and quality. While I wish it were cheaper, the fact that one tends to eat less of it makes up for it somewhat. Highest recommendation!
Review: Great product! Doesn’t spike my blood sugar. - Quick summery. Me: 51 y/o type 2 diabetic, recreational bodybuilder, 30+ years in nutrition. MYSKINNY RICE: The only one that doesn’t spike my glucose, great expiration dates (mine is in 3 years), no rinse or soaking, doesn’t contain Fake plastic rice ( it’s a thing, look it up), more earthy flavor than restaurant style basmati. Full review. I was starting to get a little nervous because I couldn’t find my skinny rice locally anymore, & online as well. So I was happy to find it here on desertcart. As I said my summary, i’m a type two diabetic and this is the only rice that does not spike my blood sugars. I’m basing that on eating one serving, which is 1/4 cup of dry rice which usually yields between 3/4 of a cup to 1 cup of cooked. If you’re eating more than a serving and a half, even this rice may affect your blood sugar adversely. Also I can trust that I’m not eating plastic ( I did the burn test). I’ve seen a lot of reviews on rice, including basmati, where people complained of a plastic taste or smell. I don’t think they know that fake plastic rice is actually a thing. I was really happy to see a long expiration date on the package as well as a manufacturing date. There is a slightly more earthy taste but it’s consistent, meaning I have eaten Numerous bags over the past couple years and it all taste the same. It may be the par boil process they do to lower the glycemic index, but as long as it doesn’t affect my diabetes, it’s good to go.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has it been tested for arsenic content? Consumer reports mentioned this is a problem for many rice products.**
A: Consumer reports lists rice grown in the US as higher in arsenic except for that raised in CA and this is not grown in the US. It is grown in the Himalayas. Can't say it doesn't have any because I don't know but should have less than anything grown in the US.

**Q: So thus rice is parboiled? And its not a true "polished white rice correct?**
A: not parboiled and not polished white rice

**Q: Hi, description says it's USDA organic. However, I don't see the USDA stamp on any of the photos. Is it USDA organic? Where is it grown?**
A: Low GI grown on India distributed to New York. 52 GI compared to regular Batsami @ 98. Yes it is organic.

**Q: These have been out of stock for a long time. Has anyone found any other brand that is as good as these? If so, kindly give brand.**
A: I really waited until the rice came back. I was not too fond of any other.
