I should've paid more attention to the description, which explicitly states that it comes with one battery-powered gear and 5 interlocking gears. Still a good deal though! **Q: How many pieces are included?** A: The set includes six gears of different sizes and designs. **Q: What is truly the most appropriate age for this toy?** A: We have this toy, got it when our kids were 2 & 4. They love it!! That said, my husband was playing with it tonight well after the kids went to bed.
