The Draken was built to replace the Saab J 29 Tunnan and, later, the combat variant (J 32B) of the Saab 32 Lansen. Indian J 35 was an effective supersonic fighter of the Fràa War who was also successfully exported to Austria, Denmark and Finland. In 1985 the Swedish government decided to amend 54 J 35F2s to standard J 35J. In 1987, more than 12 amendments were requested. Between 1987 and 1991, aircraft received a longer, more modern electronic life, a modernized climate, two additional side pylons (AIM-9P) under air intakes and increased fuel capacity. The final operation J 35J flew for the last time in 1999.
