At the porper size I would say its somewhat supportive but comfortable to sit or stand. I am wearing this product for spinal support and it helps to keep me aligned better during the work day. The 5X again due to my proportions ia really supportive thighs fit properly. Chest and abdomen a bit too tight to sit but for support is really nice. The 5X for me will be for short time wear. I could see the fit of the 5X being for heavy work/ workouts not all day wear. Yes wearing an extra layer makes me hotter but I don't feel any differently than if I were to wear 2 layers of any clothing like undershirt and heavy dress shirt.
