Review: This stuff is great. I just ordered one more package of it ... - This stuff is great.I just ordered one more package of it to (which will total four packages) complete the job of insulating my fuel tank against heat here in the Arizona desert. So far it has really worked. On my 1985 Mazda RX7 GSL-SE, the factory somehow thought it smart to have the fuel tank under the car and right next to the exhaust!. Not so good. So, in very hot weather, the fuel would actually boil in the tank. I mean really boil. In 100 degree+ weather when I'd go to get gas, when I took off the fuel cap it would literally blow off and gush a gallon or so of fuel out at me and on the ground. You'd hear the remaining fuel bubbling and boiling to the point you couldn't put more fuel in until it settled down. Also, I would get stuck (vapor lock) on occasion. It's been over 100+ degrees every day since I covered the tank with this and, so far, no more boiling and bubbling. It works exactly as advertised. I'm ordering one more sheet as the three packages were not quite enough to completely cover the tank areas I needed to, but more for appearance than function since you can see the tank from behind the car.It just plain seems to work. Not cheap, but so far worth every penny. I haven't needed to cover the top of the tank, just the bottom and sides so, as in my case where the tank is out in the open, you should be able to do the job without dropping the tank off the car. IMPORTANT: Be sure you clean the surfaces where you're going to stick the adhesive backing of the material very well before sticking it on. Otherwise it won't attach well over grease/oil. Also, the adhesive backing is VERY sticky, so measure and plan out where you're going to attach it before you take off the clear plastic sheeting that covers the adhesive. Otherwise it may stick where you don't want it too.
Review: Great product, easy to use, great bond adhesive. - We have a RZR and found that in the summer with the full windshield on, the heat inside was bad. We disassembled as much as we could and wrapped all the aluminum radiator tubes from radiator back to motor. We also applied this heat shield to the under side of most of the interior panels. We also reached up from the underside and applied heat shield to center condoles and wrapped cup holders. We took the RZR for a test ride and saw an immediate reduction in heat and it is much quieter. Engine temp was 184’, with heat gun, back radiator hose was about 140’, heat gun read 95’ on wrapped aluminum tubes inside RZR, when measured before panels were re-installed. We found the product to be very easy to work with. One reviewer said sticky side came off with the peal off backing, this never occurred. We found the easiest way to work with this was to cut about 5x8” strips, removed the backing and reapplied film backing, as most of the wrapping had to be done from under the RZR. Very easy to install, adhesive was very strong. The interior panels are made of plastic, the adhesive stuck to those as well without any problem. Another reviewer said hard to cut, another said wear gloves and eye protectors, we found none of these to be the case. This is a great product, and most of the “we” in applying this to our RZR was me, and I am a 66 yr old woman. So if I had no problem, the guys shouldn’t either.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone actually wrapped (direct contact) this product around an exhaust header? If so, your experience & assessment would be much appreciated. thx**
A: It says in the description that it’s rated to 2000°F RADIANT heat and 300°F direct contact so unless you have a wet exhaust on your vehicle, I’d just stick to header wrap. It’s cheaper anyway

**Q: Can I use this to wrap a leaking muffler?**
A: No. Muffler has comes out at pressure. Look at the products website and it well tell you for sure. If it doesn't say you can't, it doesn't mean you can

**Q: Can this be used to cover a hot air heating vent? I want to prevent the hot air from entering into rooms.**
A: by itself I would think the adhesive side wouldn't last too long against the air flow. Now if you paste it on some board that you then screw on top of the vent, I don't see why not. Just a guess for what that's worth.

**Q: How thick is the material?**
A: Once peeled and pasted, it is maybe the thickness of say, an average envelope with one single letter size paper folded in 3 inside, give or take. It isn't very thick but it seems to do the job and even pasted upside down (in my case on the outside bottom of my saddlebag an inch over my exhaust pipe) it holds very nicely. Mine has been there for now six months and 5,000 miles with a few biblical rain storms. Good stuff.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ but the adhesive after 3 months isn't holding up so great. When I remove the battery cover I applied ...
*by J***E on September 19, 2015*

Why only 4 stars? Product works well (as listed in "story" below), but the adhesive after 3 months isn't holding up so great. When I remove the battery cover I applied this too I often times have to re-stick the heat shield. Considering it's a smooth plastic and I bought the cover brand new so it had no time to be exposed to road dirt, and considering this item never gets wet or is exposed to anything but vehicle heat I'm removing a star. It's designed to block radiant heat, but what's the use if the adhesion can't handle the heat? Story: Used this on the battery shield for my wife's 2002 Saab 9-3. After 3 failed batteries in 1 1/2 year I realized that the battery was too close to the radiator hoses and it was making the battery almost 200 degrees. I bought the factory shield that covers the battery (a number of years ago a mechanic took it off and never replaced it), I had no idea how important it was to keep the battery from becoming super heated. As added insurance I covered the cover with this material. This sheet was the perfect size to cover every side (4 sides and top) of the square battery cover. Now the battery has an average temperature of 114 degrees after a 30 minute drive. I should note I live in Florida, bare pavement is 114 degrees most days, so I think that's about as cool as the battery can get unless I relocate it to the trunk.
