I used Rustins Wood Hardener on several rotten timber areas and it genuinely transformed soft crumbling wood into a solid stable surface. It penetrates well, dries fast and creates a tough plastic like finish that’s perfect for filling or repainting. It’s easy to apply but wear gloves, once it’s on your skin it’s a nightmare to remove.The results are excellent and it’s saved me from replacing window frames and sills. A reliable product I’d happily buy again.

Where a filtered air mask when using this stuff.It has the consistency of thin treacle and provides a waterproof barrier on wood (rotten or sound) after it's dried. It worked well, but I ended up using both 500ml tins on the same very small area and still need more, so value wise, next time I will be looking for a much bigger quantity, probably 5 litres+It appears to have hardened both rotten timber and the sound timber next to it, the first coat does take a fair while to soak in, even in the hot weather we've had lately, the second coat dried to a shine.Wear gloves and keep away from it while it's drying, as it dries it becomes very sticky, when fully dried it is not sticky at all. If you get it on your skin, wash it off immediately with washing up liquid & water or it will stain your skin and the compounds contained it can enter your body through your skin.

This really works ,I couldn't do as much prep on my decayed part of the fence as stated as the wood would have crumbled so I was unsure if this would work.It returned my piece of fence to a solid piece of wood again absolutely perfect.It smells harsh but well with it
