Maybe it is because I am such a fan that I am writing this review at three in the morning, having just found myself dumped by a story that seems terribly incomplete. I turned the page expecting to learn more about the mysterious stranger, how and why she disappeared, butI was treated to a postscript of "the house burned down,and they all died" variety. It is as if Rhys Bowen just got bored with this story and ended it without ever developing the characters or the story. I really wanted to know Mrs. Emory's story, and all I got was a bored Molly speculating on the lives of her neighbors and using her husband's position to ruin their lives. By the way, how ever did Molly find out what happened to Mrs. Emory ? Now, that would be an interesting story. How does a housewife with a baby in New York find a woman who has chosen to disappear into a black community outside of New Orleans. I guess Rhys Bowen couldn't think of a way either.
