The 9 cell is the extended battery that provides the longest battery life but it also extends from the laptop body like the Hunchback of Notre-Dame and since I didn't plan on using the laptop that often unplugged I went with this 6 cell battery that advertised decent watt hours and fit the outline of the laptop. The 4 and 6 cell batteries have the same dimensions but the 4 cell battery would have been useless in my opinion. The reason I went with this brand is that the seller wasn't picturing the original Dell battery nor advertising their battery as genuine since new Dell batteries don't exist for any of their old laptops so the seller got my respect for being honest and not being shady. Secondly, unlike most of the white label brands on desertcart this brand appears to be made by an actual manufacturer of batteries among other things so I gave additional points for that. My final opinion was formed when I received the battery. It was physically well manufactured and fit nicely into the laptop which I can't say has always been my experience with other brands of batteries for other brands of laptops. My real pleasure and shock came from how long this battery's charge lasts. Under heavy use of downloading programs and installing them and updating Windows it lasts a little over 2 hours. Now when using the laptop for light use such as streaming videos I can't tell you how long it lasts because when I was doing that I got nowhere close to draining it to 20% in over 3 hours so I gave up and went to sleep and have care about testing it further. My only complaint about this brand is that they don't have a big product line and only sell a very limited number of battery models. It was at about 80% when we started and charged right up. Did a couple discharge Cycles as the instructions said.
