I put the zapper on a photocell to only turn on at night so I wanted a solution that would last a long time even with cycling on and off every day. I think this ballast is the best option if you are illuminating the lamp(s) it is compatible with. It is program start which is the best type of fluorescent ballast. Unlike instant start, it takes a second or two to preheat the lamps before striking them, but also does not keep the filaments heated like a preheat ballast does.
