Spider man teams up with Black Widow and Sable to defeat Doc Ock's plans to end the world with the assistance of Sandman, Electro, and Rhino. Ends abruptly with a side story of Sable and Dr. Strange fighting Dr. Doom.

I've heard a lot about this story, and now, having read it, I finally understand why a good number of fans reacted the way they did. Like me, many readers were disappointed with Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth, and that's because Ends of the Earth was, well, disappointing.I've seen that a couple other reviewers have stated that the story wasn't bad, and I agree; Ends of the Earth was not outright bad. But during his run on Spider-Man, Dan Slott has definitely done better. It wasn't that the idea itself was a bad one; the premise was a pretty nice set-up for what could have been a great Spider-Man comic. It's just that somehow, the execution was off, and the way events transpired just didn't make for a very special comic book experience. See, another problem I have with Ends of the Earth is that it was supposed to be this big event, but while reading it, it just seemed like it was trying really hard to be a big event, when it was really just a substandard six-issue story arc in Amazing Spider-Man. Even to someone who's still relatively new to the comics scene, I could tell that this was typical superhero fare, and that there really wasn't anything special about this story.I think the biggest problem with Ends of the Earth (and I believe most readers have come to a consensus on this) was its underwhelming ending. I don't want to spoil anything for you, but it seemed like Slott had simply run out of ideas, or was unsuccessfully returning to overdone superhero storytelling reversals for the climax. In a word, it was unoriginal, and whatever the case, the ending is what did it for me. Ends of the Earth tries, but in the end (I know, I know, enough with the "ends"), it's really not worth your time or money.

Sorry for the uninventive title, but oh well. This is more or less a golden age James bond plot with Spiderman and company. so doc octopus claims he can save the world, and everyone but Spiderman believes him. the author tries to keep you guessing as to whether or not Otto is sincere about this desire, but of course spider has to be right since its his book. I would have liked it better if Otto had been truthful and spider man wAs wrong. as it is this book was uninteresting to me, as of course the world would be saved and Peter proven correct. the art is good, but there was an annoying tendency to have sable and widow look like Twins but with different colored hair and skin tight ass showing outfits. if they were both off page I doubt they could be told apart via dialogue alone. I also grew to dislike the scientist team that kept popping in for what I am assuming was intended as comic relief. if you want a good Otto story, I would recommend superior Spiderman instead of this. Ends of the Earth isn't the worst thing I have ever read, it's just not memorable or particularly clever in my humble opinion.
