The velcro is very strong, which at times can be annoying, but works well. It is very lightweight is much better than the heavier cooling vests - which are too much for my small dog. I bought this again since most vests last only 1 season. The velcro, from last season’s vest, wasn’t holding because of the hair from my dog getting into the velcro. After I ordered the replacement, I used a metal dog grooming brush and was able to get enough hair out that I wouldn’t have needed to buy a new one.
