Being made of glass is also a plus...easy cleanup and no harmful chemicals to be concerned about. The Janaer coddler will be in my kitchen for year to come! 8/16/16 Update - I have been using the coddler for several months and the glass and metal still look brand new. One thing I have noticed recently, is that when I have my 3 eggs, 2 pcs. of sliced ham, cream and chives in the coddler, it will take approximately 20 minutes for the eggs to become firm. Here in Florida in August my condo is humid enough before boiling water for 20 minutes. However...I can see this as a tremendous plus if you live up North. especially in the Winter. Even though using my coddler adds a little to the humidity...the eggs taste so darn good...I will continue to enjoy using it year round! Last week while using the coddler, I added 4 eggs to the boiling water to hard boil them for use later to make egg salad. Remember "coddled" eggs are NOT poached. They are delicious alternative to poaching or other water cooking. Rub the inside of the coddler with generous amount of softened butter or olive oil. Seal the lid top and place in boiling water pan (water below the lip of the coddler). Cook per your desired temperature. Around 10 minutes if you prefer a hard cooked egg - or around 5 if you like a more loose yolk - even less if you like a very runny yolk.. Scoop out with a small spoon or dip with toast sticks. It's a real treat. These coddlers are very nice because they are clear glass and go right into the dishwasher. The metal clasps securely hold the lid on which is very important (you don't want water in the coddle) - and are easy to remove with a towel (they will be hot when they come out of the boiling water). The only negative I will report is that the add clearly states it is a set of two. I only got one. Had a "replacement" order placed and again only got one. So eventually I got the set of 2 but it was hassle.
