We've used them in the recent heatwave and I do quite like them. Each towel comes with it's own little bag and clip with the idea being that you can carry them around pre soaked it you want to until you need them. To get them to work you soak it, wring them out and then snap them a couple of times like your trying to get the creases out of your washing. It doesn't matter whether you use hot or cold water, the result is the same after a few seconds. You then drape it over yourself in whatever way you want. I definitely felt that they were cool on the skin and they felt the wally nice on a hot day. I don't think they last particularly long though and I wouldn't describe them as ice cold. I have thought about the difference between the and a tea towel however I think the material seems to be really light weight and airy which helps the evaporation which is the what actually cools you down.
