I think it enhances the already beautiful tone of the guitar but on a very subtle level. I think replacing both saddle and nut can be accomplished by a beginner if they carefully measure and look up some videos on youtube.Saddle review:So I measured the original plastic Yamaha saddle which is longer than the bone saddle. Even though the saddle is not a perfect fit, I am not taking a star out because the advertised specs for the saddle are spot on. I did notice a small chip on the high e side of the saddle which doesn't affect the saddle's performance. The saddle is also thicker than the stock saddle and I noticed before sanding the saddle down that the ends would fit on the bridge while the middle was slightly thicker so sanding it to even thickness required me to focus on the center part and not the ends for a tight fit all around. The bone saddle is also more compensated in the heavier strings than the stock saddle which improves intonation of those strings. The b string is compensated just like the stock saddle.Nut review:Like i mentioned above, the specs are accurate. This means that the replacement bone nut is going to be thicker than the stock yamaha one by quite a bit. I had to sand it thinner to fit. As for the shape of the nut curve matching the stock, it is slightly flatter than stock on the last three high strings so you might have to file down the string slots a bit more to follow the curve of the fingerboard more. I have not done this and i think its fine. Maybe in the future. - a quick note on the stock nut on the Yamaha, there didn't seem to be any glue holding the nut so a quick tap of a hammer with a padded screw driver took out the stock nut quickly without harming the finish of the guitar.Quality of the materials:I have never added a bone saddle to my guitar so this was my first time working with bone. The material felt more like porcelain in density but doesn't crack. Sanding it seemed to require more effort than plastic which was good to make accurate fitting easier just a little bit more work. the color was just as white as the stock plastic parts and i don't think anyone would notice any difference.I've been using the fitted bone nut and saddle for 2 weeks now playing everyday and there has not been any detrimental effects noticed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally "real bone" - 6 String Acoustic Guitar Bone Bridge Saddle and Nut *by M***S on Reviewed in the United States on February 27, 2014* I was very glad that I received an actual "bone" saddle & nut. My previous order from another seller here in Amazon advertised their product as "real bone saddle & nut", what I received was a hollow plastic saddle & nut.I gave it only 4 stars because:Cons:-the saddle was 2-3mm shorter than the original TUSQ saddle on my S6 Seagull guitar.-the nut is even shorter, it doesn't fit the neck of my guitar so, I have no use for it.Pros:-real boneWhen you purchase this double check the length & deepness of the groove of your guitar bridge. For my Seagull the action was just at the right level, sanding was not necessary for me, other than that, this is a good quality 'bone' saddle & nut.As for the tone, the bone saddle & pin does make a difference compare to the TUSQ. I did not change my strings but I can hear a difference between the two material. A great guitar for $300, but as with everything, I wanted to enhance it and get the most out of it. I had friends offer to tweak it (lower the action, etc). When I saw this bone saddle and bridge for $8.00 and read the reviews I figured it was worth a try. After watching a few youtube videos I was ready to give it a try. It was like these components were made for my guitar. They fit perfectly with only moderate sanding to bring the height down. I installed new light strings to make it as easy to play as possible for this rookie. I'm very happy with the results. The whole thing took me about an hour and I was back in business. Tone seems a little higher - probably due to the lighter strings, but the notes really ring out and are significantly more sustained.
