Right out of the box, the lighter felt sturdy. It was easy to fill and my husband had no issue adjusting the flame size to get it to light consistently. (If yours doesn't light easily, try adjusting the flame!) It is easy for me to light and I like that you have to hold the lever to keep the flame going, or I probably would drop it and set my carpet on fire at some point.
