The AstroView Equatorial (EQ) Mount head has a convenient dovetail attachment saddle that makes it easy to attach telescopes or swap between more than one telescope without having to hassle with tools. An 8" long dovetail attachment plate is included in case your telescope isn't equipped with one. The AstroView Mount can support telescopes weighing up to 12 pounds and has enclosed worm gears, an azimuth adjustment, and dual manual slow-motion controls. A hinged center brace adds stability to the adjustable aluminum tripod, and a high-walled accessory tray makes for a great storage spot for eyepieces, Barlow lenses, filters, and more while you're stargazing. Attach the included EQ-3M Telescope Drive's precision mini-motor onto the AstroView EQ Mount to track celestial objects automatically. Review: Seems solid so far. - When it comes to telescope mounts $300 won't buy you much these days. I am happy with the Orion EQ-3M so far. For the money it seems fairly solid. I will try to be cautious with the leg adjustment screws because with all the lower price tripods that is the weak point. All else seems good for now.
Review: Solid mount head - I needed to retire my old EQ2 mount, which had finally worn out after nearly ten years of monthly star parties and other excursions. I found that while I couldn't get a replacement EQ2, I could upgrade to an EQ3, which is what the Orion AstroView EQ actually is. Those who know the Celestron CG-4 will immediately recognize the Orion AstroView EQ as its design is nearly identical. It is solid and smooth, and the only reason I rated it 4 starts instead of 5 is that the RA clutch sits in a somewhat awkward position, and with the motor attached, manual fine tuning is not possible the way it is on the EQ2, which has a thumb plate to disengage the motor if needed. But this is really just a matter of personal preference and in no way detracts from the effectiveness of this mount. After all, a new mount you have to get used to is a whole lot better than an old mount that was starting to fall apart. I'm entirely satisfied with this mount, and may even look for a backup mount for my ED80.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone used this mount successfully for long exposure astrophotography?**
A: We recommend using a Go-To system for long-exposure astrophotography, as this will compensate for the apparent movement of the sky.

**Q: Can this mount track the sun?**
A: the mount I have has the single axis drive which should move my scope in the direction of the earth's rotation in order to keep any celestial object in view. If you want to take timed exposures of any star, planet or relatively stationary object in the sky, not satellites, comets, asteroids... this mount should allow that. tracking an object accurately whether it is the sun, another star, the moon, planets, comets .... you may need a double axis drive with more extensive object database capabilities than what I have. Mine rotates the scope at a set speed in either direction, but is a drive only, no computerized database (go-to drive).

**Q: Does this come with a Dslr camera mount ?**
A: If you want to connect your DSLR to this mount, you'll need a proper Vixen style adapter to provide you with a 1/4-20" threaded post to connect to your camera. **Q: I'm assuming you can, but better to ask...can you mount a dslr to this as well as telescopes?**
A: Dear Mr. Holmes, yes you can mount a DSLR on the Orion AstroView EQ mount via the 1/4"-20 Adapter for Orion Telescope Mounts Item #  07388.  Since DSLRs are usually lighter weight than a telescope you may need a lighter weight counterweight.
