## Description

These #18 Heavyweight Chiseling Blades Are For Deep Cross And Smooth Wood Chiseling In Materials Such As Balsa, Wood, Linoleum And Basswood. Package Of 5.

Review: Another great blade, but NOT a toy. - I use a 1/2 dozen or so different blades that X-Acto make. These blades are oxidized to preserve the blade's edge and prevents rusting. I can attest to that as I have had some of these laying around for literally years, and are still as good as new. I also use them in situations that use water (while carving plaster castings for example). They are sturdy and strong, but I couldn't find the 100 pack available, so I compromised and bought 5 of the 5 packs, still, less than half price of 1/2 a 100 pack's cost. Not bad at all (but I noticed the price went back up by $1.10 since then). Despite that, these blades are great for uses that a chisel type action is needed. Having just seen their web site, they make a new #11 blade that is coated with zirconium nitride to make it the sharpest [their words] blade on the market. Can't wait to try these. This review first asked me: "How much fun is this toy" "How durable is this toy", but I have to point out, more for desertcart than anything, that this IS NOT A TOY!. It is a very sharp blade used to cut paper, plaster, wood and plastics. Please regard these blades with all the respect a surgeon would of his. Having said that, don't be afraid of them either, just use due caution. Over some 35 plus years, I have to say I only cut through skin once. That was all I needed.
Review: Strong and thick compared to generic brands - Very heavy weight. I was expecting something thin and bendable like the generic blades of this type. Pleasently surprised by the strength and sharpness of the product. I use these as a scraper for my 3d printer. It gets under the finished prints easily to release them from the heat bed. I usually snap a generic blade every 10 or so prints. I've just used one of these xacto blades on about 30 prints so far. Overall great value for me.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the material of this blades?**
A: These are metal blades and work really well. I don't believe they are stainless steel as there is no description on the package itself but a high quality metal for sure. I just toss them when they get dull but it takes a long time so I have not attempted to try to sharpen them. They work great on working on dollhouse miniature wood products (i.e., shingles and other items!).

**Q: Why have these doubled in price in two months?**
A: inflation?

**Q: What is the insert shaft width?**
A: width =.35in length=.70in

**Q: Where is it made? the photo says "usa", but the description says "item is manufactured in china". seems like one of them must be wrong.**
A: MADE IN CHINA 😐

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another great blade, but NOT a toy.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great blade for lifting die cuts
*by E***T on January 15, 2014*

Instead of paying for a Silhouette Spatula to use with my Silhouette Portrait , I use these #18 blades with my X-Acto tool. They do a nice job of lifting my die cuts off of the Silhouette Portrait Cutting Mat and I can replace the blade when it begins to get gummed up. I also use quite a few X-Acto X611 #11 Blades for X-Acto Knives, Bulk Pack, 100 Blades per Box for trimming my die cuts. If you buy yourself an Xacto X5282 Basic Knife Set you can use it for years for many different tasks. P.S. These blades are NOT toys.
