**Q: Do these have an internal low pass filter/cutoff so they can be powered with a full range amp signal, or are they better powered with a subwoofer amp?**
A: Better using a sub amp.

**Q: I have a sub out on my unit with a powered sub. Does this sub need to be powered up?**
A: Yes, you need an amp to power this sub.

**Q: I have an amp with a separate coax sub output. Can you recommend and outdoor sub for this configuration?**
A: Since you have a Sub-out, you will need to connect to a sub amplifier and the from the amplifier to the subwoofer. we recommend that you purchase the 10D Sub (either in Granite or limestone finish. the best combination is to buy the Granite 10D or the Limestone 10D along with the XJ300ST amplifier. use a single coax from the sub-out of your amplifier to the XJ300ST input then connect the XJ300ST speaker output to the Rock subwoofer

**Q: This says "2 x 4-ohms".  is the total impedance presented to the amp 8 ohms?  does it look like an 8 ohm speaker to the amp?**
A: The speaker has a dual voice coil woofer. With this type of design the manufacture put two (2) inputs in to allow flexibility in interfacing with separate left and right speakers.  This speaker is designed to be a sub-woofer to support bass in an outdoor environment.

I have had outdoor speakers before they were brand name and I paid a good buck for them, more then these, and they don't even compare. They died on me after a year I quickly got rid of them and found these. Like I said what an upgrade these sound so much better then the other set I will never go back to them. Not even to mention these look like real rocks they blend in so much better like they belong there. The sound it crisp and clear and can be heard in all weather conditions. I recommended this to anyone who wants a good pair of outdoor speakers.
