Review: Very useful in the kitchen. - I love these Rubbermaid vented Food storage containers. It's perfect for reducing condensation while storing food. Don't need that feature? just close the vent. I regularly mix sourdough starter in my container and it works like a charm. They clean up well in the top shelf of my dishwasher. They are well made, sturdy, and versatile, and stackable . The lid snaps in place easily and stays closed, the red lid makes it easy to find in the refrigerator.
Review: Food storage tips in review - I've been using these red top containers now for about a decade, and I still have most of my first purchase. A few have been given away, stolen or lost. I've bought some extra so that I have new looking containers to take to potlucks or as a guest. But I'm quite sure that I haven't actually destroyed any of them. They are in daily use around my house and on average I have about 6-8 of them in the fridge at any one time. All the lids still fit securely and there are no abraded edges. The biggest culprit for damage to these [as far as making them not look good, though still functional] are tomato based foods like pasta sauce or chili. It can add a bit of stain that doesn't come out for a couple of washings and/or erode a bit over time. However, over the past year or so, I've started spraying the inside with cooking spray, and it certainly helps with the staining. Otherwise, these containers get a bit of etching on the clear plastic and look whiteish and not new, though they remain functional. Still, with the cost of them, I have no intention of switching to something else. Not even Tupperware has outlasted these things, and these are a lot cheaper. I needed some larger containers with doing more cooking this year because of COVID, so I got a few of these and some for my adult kids. They are great for soups and I don't think I've ever had one leak with reasonable food handling. The one exception would be if I've stored some hot food and the pressure burped a corner loose. But this works for anything and better than any storage container short of a screw top or a mason jar storage container. I just put it on the table, lay the lid on top till it heats up the air and burp it a couple of times. I've also had a corner pop loose in the microwave if I've not popped it loose in advance. Both of these situations have been remedied by the addition of this burp valve on top of the red lid. Now I can just crack that loose and put it in the fridge or the microwave without concern. Kudos to the Rubbermaid folks for this rather innovative yet uncomplicated design change. I don't know if they are doing this on all of the tops or just a few. It's not often needed so I'd hate to see an expense that isn't necessary, but I know I'll happily take this on a few of them. Technically speaking you aren't supposed to use these for cooking. However, the instructions say that 30 seconds in the microwave won't be a problem. I've found that to be true except for fats. Fats will get too hot for these. As for sizes, I like the variety though I'd happily trade 20 of those tiny containers for one 7 or 9 cup. The tiny ones are great for storing a bit of salad dressing or diced onion, or taking a minimal amount of sauce on a picnic, but that's about it. I suspect the only reason they are there in that number are to boost the number of containers on the packaging. 5 stars easy, but pay attention to sizes and be willing to pay a bit more for getting the sizes you need.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The container sizes shown in the picture does not match description. More .5 cup and less 7 cup. Which is right?**
A: Thanks for your interest in our products. The Easy Find Lids container set includes five 0. 5-cup, five 1. 25-cup, five 2-cup, five 3-cup, four 5-cup, three 7-cup, two 9-cup, and one 14-cup container. Happy shopping!

**Q: Would one of these be a good size to microwave a packet of ramen noodles in?**
A: Thank you for your interest in our products. Our Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids Food Storage and Organization Containers are made of microwave safe materials that can be used to reheat precooked foods to the proper recommended temperature. These containers are not intended for cooking. Reheating implies the maximum short term (less than 30 seconds) service temperature of a Rubbermaid container is 212°F followed by a cool down period. Maintaining temperatures at 212°F or higher is considered cooking, and is outside the intended use of these products. Have a wonderful day!

**Q: Can this go from freezer to microwave ?
also the one review said...do not microwave , her's melted .**
A: Thank you for your interest in the Rubbermaid Easy Find Vented Lids Food Storage, Set of 8 (16 Pieces Total) Plastic Meal Prep Containers, 8-Pack, Racer Red. We understand you'd like to know if these can go from freezer to microwave. We are more than happy to provide this information. These are made of microwave safe materials that can be used to reheat precooked foods to the proper recommended temperature. Excessive reheating time in the microwave may damage the container. These containers are not intended for cooking. To avoid severe damage to the container, do not reheat food high in salt, oil, fat or sugar. Reheating and/or melting butter or foods with high sugar content (i.e. chocolate, candies, jelly, syrup) could lead to severe damage and potentially melt the container. This item is made of materials that are safe for freezer use. Please note that plastics are less flexible when cold or frozen and may break if dropped. Also note that water expands when frozen, so when filled to capacity the container could expand and crack. We hope this answers your question.

**Q: can you freeze vented lids?**
A: Yes you can freeze rubbermaid with vented lids.
