As I have a rice cooker that came with both those items I don't really NEED them but it is nice to have extras just in case. Also the cup acts like a screw on cap - and yes it had threads so it will screw on and stay on.Also, as I can pour the rice into the container I can put the rice container into narrow areas, between books or other items, instead of having a plastic bag of rice that takes up a lot of space and then you have to put items on top of the bag. The plastic container just makes things much easier. Also being see-through nobody is going to mistake it for anything but rice. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product!! *by A***3 on 6 December 2018* LOVE this!!! I have been looking for this for a long time! I wanted a storage container for flours and sugars etc. that is airtight and won't get bugs but also has a spout so you can pour directly into the measuring cup and avoid making a mess by scooping. However, all other containers that have a spout aren't fully airtight and have gotten bugs when I've tried them. This one has a measuring cup on top of the spout that you have to turn and click into place and is completely sealed when correctly screwed on. I ordered a few more when I got one because I was so happy with it. Comes in 2 sizes (that I know of). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use *by P***U on 22 February 2019* I buy basmati rice from costco which comes in plastic bag further enclosed in jute bag. Many times I have had issue with rodents infecting the bag so I needed something where rodents can't get in, so I got this container which is easy to use and being plastic material, rodents can't get in.
