Você já se perguntou por que algumas músicas se tornam um sucesso, ou por que gostamos do que gostamos? Como vídeos do youtube e memes se tornam “virais”? Se a resposta for sim, vai achar este livro Fascinante!!!! O autor explica por que Star Wars é um fenômeno mundial, por que a Mona Lisa é tão conhecida, por que alguns pintores são idolatrados enquanto outros são esquecidos, e até por que Trump foi eleito. Tudo isso embasado em estudos históricos, antropológicos e psicológicos. Gostei especialmente de conhecer a história de Raymond Loewy, desenhista industrial criador da teoria MAYA - “Most Advanced Yet Acceptable.” , uma ideia genial na sua simplicidade. É claro que produzir um produto ou uma marca de sucesso não é uma receita de bolo, mas o livro oferece um bom insight de como nossas preferências podem ser moldadas ou manipuladas, e isso por si só já o torna uma leitura indispensável.

Brilliantly researched, curated and constructed peep behind the curtain of cultural creation that uncovers the often surprising, and always circuitous, journey a so-called overnight success took to reach us.I work in advertising and pride myself on always discovering the actual origin stories beyond the manufactured myths that underpin the world's most popular culture and products, but Mr Thompson managed to surprise me every couple of pages with fresh takes on old tales that coalesce to form as close to a meta-theory of hit making as you'll get (chance is always going to be a major factor no matter what you do).If you have even a passing interest in the mechanics of mass media then I highly recommend this ridiculously readable account  of how hits are born and raised.
