## Questions & Answers

**Q: what is the page yield of the cartridges?**
A: The printer has only been in use for approx. 1 month with original cartridges, A guess on yield to date is 250-300 pages. Primary use is a single desktop user.

**Q: what is the page yield of each of the cartridges?**
A: 2500 for the black and 1800 for the colored. Of course these are sample cartridges. Replacement cartridges print allot more.

**Q: What is "replenishment enabled"?**
A: I believe it means if you sign up for it they automatically send you new toner cartridges when they get low. I did not sign up for it.

**Q: Will it connect to a MAC computer?**
A: Yes, my samsung c1810w is connected to a mini mac computer and works fine

It finally broke down after moving, but the exact cause of the breakdown is unknown since it has not been dropped or mishandled. This may sound irrelevant, but I want to point out that Samsung laser printers are very sturdy and last quite long.I had no trouble with unpacking and setting it up except I had a little bit of trouble with the wireless setup using the Universal Print Driver. I kept getting an error while trying to connect to the Wi-Fi router because the printer reported that the security information I provided was incorrect although it was entered correctly with the default password even after resetting the router. I gave up after a few unsuccessful attempts and proceeded with the LAN setup. It connected much easier this time, and I was able to access the printer’s control panel as well as to print normally. I’m still struggling with the wireless setup even with the WPS button. Maybe this feature is malfunctioning on this unit, and I may have to contact the Samsung Support to see if anything can be done to make it work. Since I have Ethernet-over-power network adapters to connect the printer virtually anywhere using the LAN at home, I’m not worried about the wireless feature not working properly.

My point is that I'm pretty familiar with different brands of printers

*by D***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2014*

I have owned many Samsung products, including HD TVs and the little CLP 315w (3 of them) and I guess I've been very lucky because to date I have never had a problem with them that wasn't user error. I have also used many Epsons (1400, Workforce 7510, 7520, and the Artisan 835, the last three which I am now using. I have also used many HP printers, both IJ and Laserjet. In fact I have in use now two of the old Laserjet 1220s which have been unfailing workhorses for me for a number of years. My point is that I'm pretty familiar with different brands of printers. Because I needed a faster color Laserjet I began researching Samsung to see what was available in the price range I wanted to spend. After reading a lot of reviews I chose the SL-C1810w/XAA. Then I started looking at prices and found it on Amazon. I read the user reviews here and was surprised to see so many negative reviews but because of my positive experiences with Samsung I decided to order it anyway. Just as a precaution I also ordered the Square Trade warranty. The printer arrived and I went about setting it up, first as a USB connection and then I went back and set it up wirelessly, both in my home network and lastly on my iOS 7 iPhone 5. I had zero problems with any of the set ups. In fact once I started, it practically did it all itself and all of it was completed with a test print in about 8 minutes. I was very happy with the ease of this set up. Maybe my success was due to my setting it up first as a USB connection, then, STILL connected as USB, I chose the option of connection wirelessly with USB (seems contradictory but it worked!) It immediately picked up my home network, entered all the necessary info for me and I was done! In the past I had always tried to set up my printers as WIRELESS only, skipping the USB set up. Every time I had problems and would end up giving up and going back to a USB setup. At a later date I would feel brave and try again to do the wireless set up, this time with success. I am in no way a computer nerd but I have learned by my mistakes. In my feeble brain it seems that even if you only want to print wirelessly, set up first as a USB and then go back and set up wireless, choosing the USB wireless setup option. Ionly use PCs so Macs may be a different story entirely. To set up on my iPhone I scanned the code on the set up sheet and installed the Samsung print app, clicked on 'Select Printer' let it find the Samsung printer and printed a test sheet That worked smoothly so then I printed several photos from my Camera roll and they, too, printed perfectly. As pointed out in other reviews a laser printer is not a good choice if you want professional looking photos for framing, but most are great for desktop publishing purposes. Since I just got this model I don't have any experience with other issues. If printer quality problems arise I will post and update. I hope my experience in wireless set up helps others in some way.

Updated Review - NOT COMPATIBLE WITH LATEST APPLE UPDATES - MAC OSCATALINA

*by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2017*

**EDIT** Update March 2020: I originally purchased this printer in March 2017. I loved everything about it. Decent print quality, no paper jams, quick printing, etc. But this printer is no longer compatible with my iPhone or my MacBook. This is in part due to apple, and in part due to HP/Samsung. Samsung sold their printer division to HP in 2018. All drivers for these Samsung printers are now property of HP. Apple's most recent Operating Systems (anything after OSMojave) are no longer compatible with 32-bit programs. 64-bit only. That means HP needs to update the printer drivers to be 64-bit in order for this and other samsung printers to be able to work with current Apple products. HP has decided NOT do do driver updates. That means this printer is no longer compatible with any of my devices. I can no longer print via WiFi or AirPrint. I have to plug my MacBook directly into the printer and even then, only a generic driver works so it prints in LOW QUALITY BLACK AND WHITE. That's it, no other options. Who is to blame here? Well, mostly Apple. But HP has a duty to update their drivers so the users of these products don't have expensive paper weights sitting on their desks. I have an almost-full toner cartridge that I can't use because I can only print crappy black and white now. Shameful.I've had this printer for about two weeks now and I absolutely love it! Wifi printing actually works! I've had no issues with paper jams. Print quality is awesome - I have actually used this printer to print photos and frame them - I didn't even use special photo paper and they still look fantastic. I'm very happy with this purchase. This is the first printer I've ever had that I didn't hate.
