It is pretty tough plastic as well and has taken some inadvertent abuse. **Q: Can it be screwed directly on a tripod or mic stand instead of clamping?** A: If you drill a hole in it. It attaches nicely to mic or drum stands and holds my iPad quite solidly! It IS mostly plastic and not HEAVY DUTY - BUT...it has already taken abuse (kicked over mic stand, equipmented dropped on it in the car, etc) and is not damaged.EXCELLENT value, and I have already recommended it to the rest of my band! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Tabs cover iPad on/off button *by M***M on June 17, 2024* There are 4 'tabs' that hold the iPad onto this stand. The top right tab that holds my iPad Air (circa 2019) in vertical orientation blocks access to the iPad on/off button, which I need access to on stage between sets. The depth of the holding tabs also barely allows an iPad with an original Apple case to fit, tightly. It is difficult to get the iPad in and out of this stand without removing the iPad's case.
