So I was pleasantly surprised when it took some really pure, unbanded jasper at 35k RPM for over an hour to finally strip some of the diamond coating off of one of the coarser grit drums. Oh yes, it got hot, even with coolant and frequent breaks. But man! It took off a lot of rock. Not bad at all.
