Buttermilk has small caramel chips but I add some dried dates and chopped walnuts and it’s perfect. I have (inadvertently) tried to mess them up. Accidents range from adding dates and walnuts to the chocolate chip mix (not bad but won’t repeat) to cooking a full 90 seconds (pulled away from cup and browned only a little bit more than usual 70-80 seconds) to finally adding 1/2 cup instead of 1/4 cup water (raised up really high but didn’t overflow, stayed hot much longer because the water retained heat and if you’ve ever put bread in the microwave you’ll recognize the rubbery texture that resulted).
