The objective is to protect the cut edge of the glass and the silver reflective coating from moisture which causes the coating to discolor and flake off. An application that is uniform enough whether by spray or brush should suffice. **Q: Would this product work to seal a whole mirror (small) that ipaintedon?** A: This product seals the bare edges of the mirror once it has been cut. The back of the mirror so the silver plate will not start to flake off. If you painted on the front of the mirror and want to seal it on you may look at the clear Krylon sprays or Rustoleum. This is easier, simply lay mirror face on a piece of cardboard and spray the edges, when it dries flip it over and if you got any overstay on the face of the mirror, clean it off with a razor blade.
