When we use them for the backpacks we hang the backpack strap over both knobs on the hook, not just one side of the hook. The metal is strong enough to hold a full (not overly stuffed) backpack. You can see the metal flex and bend a bit, but the hooks have not failed me yet! And I love the bling! So far, the gems have stayed firmly on and have not fallen off. So...I now have 4 bling hooks in "white" or "clear"...can't remember what they were labeled. They are not the abs color, I know that. Or getting knocked off the seat in stop-and-go traffic.
