It makes the phone somewhat thick but the thickness is indicative of the protection it offers.It consists of a thick, hard rubber bumper complimented by a thin colored aluminum sheath. It has served my phone well. The aluminum on my case is now, after a year, scratched and the color is wearing off. But, given that this case has been on my phone for an entire year - through camping trips and work and travel and life in general - I would expect it.The volume buttons on the side do make it hard to adjust the volume but a quick slit made by an exact knife solved that problem for me. Additionally, most will find that this case is VERY HARD to get off your phone. The trick, though, is to pop the aluminum sheath off prior to taking the rubber bumper off the phone. Removing the aluminum makes the case flexible enough to manipulate.This case is worth what you pay for it. Looks great on my phone the holes for the mics are perfect (AT&T).What I didn't like is that it is very difficult to remove. I was afraid I was going to drop it during the removal process. In addition to that, the very first time I took it off it developed a tiny crack on the side of the case. It is slick to handle and with my small hands it just wasn't a good fit.I bought another case from different manufacturer and it fits beautifully and has a more tacky hold to it. I know this is personal choice, but I don't want to be afraid I am going to wreck my phone if I take the case off or it slips out of my hands.
