Had me on wild goose chase *by A***A on Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2019* It works for 08 CTS with twist knob ignition. I went through the 30 min programming instructions that I found online, but when I tried the buttons on the remote after the programming was complete, nothing worked! So i put the remote back into its slot in the console, and the car would start. So I thought maybe I did something wrong, and went through the 30 minute programming again, while researching the possibility that i bought the wrong one. After the second attempt at programming with the same result (car recognizes fob only when in the slot) i remembered watching a "how to" video on YouTube, saying that the car will recognize the fob in the slot even if it has a dead battery, smart, at least you won't be stranded if the battery dies, there should be a message somewhere that tells you that. Anyway i had another remote for my traverse with the same battery, swapped batteries and voila.
