These were a birthday gift (along with an iPad Mini) for our 4 year old daughter. So after about 6 months they have held up pretty well! This includes being tugged on by her little 1.5 year old sister. The insulation on the cord feels substantial and has remained "short" free up until this point. An issue that I've had with other similar products is the lack of toughness engineered around the tension points of the cord. There seems to be enough relief around the earphone and male connector jack on this product to eliminate this common failure. The product does ship with a volume limiter in the form of a small dongle. It works great and ensures that your little one doesn't cause damage to their hearing accidentally. The only complaint that I have about the volume limiter is that it is easy to lose if ever removed by your child ... but honestly what isn't lost easily by a 4 year old? The headphones have a good warm sound and isolate outside noises well for intelligibility and use of low volume levels. My daughter always yells when talking to us because she assumes that we can't hear her ... cute, but a hard concept to explain haha. I will add that unlike other volume limiting headphones, these do give adequate "headroom" (as in volume level) so that they are actually useable in noisy environments such as the car or on an airplane. The other ones that we purchased had to be returned because they were essentially unusable because they were excessively quite. Overall these were a quality purchase, I was skeptical at first, but they have proven to be better than any other product that we've purchased in this price point. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! I literally spent hours finding the right headphones for him because my sister complained that every pair of headphones she's bought him are so quiet that they are useless during car rides. My nephew can't hear his movies on long car rides over the regular car noises, and I saw first hand last summer when we went to the river and spent 4 hours in the car. My nephew would get irritated any time anyone in the car so much as whispered because he couldn't hear Elsa over our voices. Every pair of kids' headphones I found on Amazon it seemed had a volume limiter built-in. While the limiter is useful when he'd in his room on his tablet without any other noise, it's not practical for a situation where headphones are actually needed (car rides or in noisy public places). So after much research, I decided on Kidz Gear Wired Headphones for kids. And I'm glad I did.Why I bought them: the volume limiter is an OPTIONAL adapter.Why 5 stars: the sound is great, the limiter is optional, the size can be adjusted to various degrees (they fit my 4-year-old nephew perfectly as well as my sister's head when adjusted), they are comfortable, and they are sturdy enough to withstand children. Or at least, they seem like it so far. Also, 5 stars because his cousin, seeing him wearing these headphones, pointed at them and said, "I'm asking for those for Christmas." Kiddo is now 7yo, and these have been awesome - and I'm about to buy a second pair to keep in the other parent's car.Kiddo has sensory processing issues, and uses these to put on when the environment is too much - listening to their own music or some kind of calming noise through a white noise app is a huge help.They also sometimes need some music, a video, or a game for stimulation, and the headphones keep the noise from bothering others in the room/car.They also love to be able to make video calls to family members with the headphones on - even though these don't have a microphone, the calls work just fine.Kiddo definitely appreciates the comfort of the ear cups. It's not too hot, the material is soft and smooth, and there's plenty of "give" to both the cups and the band, so they fit gently - no squeezing, pressure or pinching.We have had no problems with the jack fitting into all manner of devices and cases.The sound quality is really good - especially considering they're made for kids, and the price is so low. As far as "noise cancelling" - they definitely don't fit that definition. However, they do soften ambient noise, and with white noise playing at a comfortable volume, they're fairly effective for reducing noise. We only really used the volume control in the very beginning - kiddo caught on to controlling volume without it fairly quickly.They fit well at age 3, and still fit great at age 7 - I can even put them on to listen to whatever kiddo is showing me.
