Installation is not so easy hardware spacers and spacers do not adapt to every boat configuration and had to be supplemented by additional 1/8" stainless steel brace bolted through the hull. I was able to use the holes from my previosu Cape Horn ladder so I avoided having to drill more holes in my transom. Had to drill some new holes in the new platform to fit the frame properly but was fairly easy. The rails that came with this did not look real strong but once installed they worked fine. I had a hard time finding a four step ladders w/platform like this one most only had 3 steps. It's nice and I would recommend it to others especially for the price. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars MUST MODIFY TOO MAKE IT WORK!!! *by A***2 on Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2018* As other reviews state... Drill news holes in the platform 3/4 to 1" towards the front. That'll move the platform back and allow the ladder to lay flat without hitting your transom. I also filed away some material on the rear of the platform to allow the curved railings to fit flat. Do your self a favor and get 6+ 316 stainless 1/4-20 nylock nuts. The 18-8 that are supplied gall when tightened so I broke 2 bolts removing them because of the platform re-positioning issue. I also drilled a new hole to mount the angle bracket because it's too short to use the railing hole. So, my anticipated 1/2 hour install turned out to be a head-scratching 3 hour project. However, after the final install, the operation, quality, and convenience of this platform/ladder is very nice.ATTN MFG! Take note and modify your product! You could sell a lot more of these if they actually fit out-of-the-box!!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Solid 4-step ladder *by K***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2020* Ladder and platform are well built. Installation hardware had a few short comings - spacers (between bottom of platform and rails) were too small and had to be supplemented by additional stainless washers. I was able to use the rails/frame from my old one-step platform so I avoided having to drill holes in my transom. Had to drill three new holes in the new platform to fit the old frame but no big deal. The rails that came with this did not look quite as good as the old ones I re-used, but since I didn't use them did not care. Four step ladders w/platform like this design are hard to find.
