The first Chinese sources that mention the jian date to the 7th century BCE during the Spring and Autumn period; one of the earliest specimens being the Sword of Goujian. Historical one-handed versions have blades varying from 45 to 80 centimeters (18 to 31 inches) in length. The weight of an average sword of 70-centimetre (28-inch) blade-length would be in a range of approximately 700 to 900 grams (1.5 to 2 pounds). There are also larger two-handed versions used for training by many styles of Chinese martial arts. Professional jian practitioners are referred to as jianke (½¿Í "sword guests" or "swordsmen"; a term dating from the Han dynasty). I have also been collecting swords for the last 10 years, and i know it can be intimidating purchasing from a less known manufacturer. That said i am THRILLED WITH THIS SWORD.It is my first High Manganese alloy sword, it arrived decently sharp and has held it’s factory edge remarkably. I’d go as far as to say it surpasses my high carbon blades and is comparible to my spring steel blades. It is a bit heavy, and strictly one handed so it may not be for everyone. It is not perfectly balanced, but not far from it. In fact it’s balance point is very tolerable for a blade this short and of this weight. The fittings are tight and solid. The ornaments on the scabbard are simply beautiful. It was only with great scrutiny i found any flaws in the paint job. At first glance it looks flawless. Easily pretty enough for decoration and i’d go as far to say it can be made combat ready easily. Almost as impressive as any of my Cas Iberia pieces and just as functional as any Cold Steel i own, and so much cheaper to boot. I will GLADLY try to answer any questions on this piece, and i will seek out the seller again for other swords. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful Blade for the Price *by J***. on April 28, 2018* For the price, it is a decent looking sword. Honestly, the blade is beautiful, Clean, straight, and nice detailing. I love the blade. The fittings are a little sloppy, not in how they fit, they are tight. But their appearance. They are cast and mass produced and this is noticeable and the dark coloring on them looks a bit sloppily painted on with a bare spot here and there. But, this is a $180 sword, not a $1800 sword. But the blade itself is beautiful enough that I can ignore it.And most importantly, to answer my own and everyone else's question. It is full tang, or at least close to it. It does have a nut at the end for the fitting. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Everything that I wanted! *by S***Y on May 2, 2019* So this sword arrived a full 2 weeks early! To make matters better it is just simply amazing: absolutely wonderful and intricate design (the folded steel pattern is beautiful while also not being over powering), well balanced, not too heavy, bigger than I thought it was, and a surprisingly sharp blade. I'm not in love with the sword's handle and the scabbard is not my favorite, but all in all it is a wonderful blade!
