**Q: What are the dimensions of this item?**
A: The wood base is a square 3 1/8" by 3/4" high. The hour glass is about 2 1/4" at the widest part by about 5 1/2" tall. Because the base is recessed for the hour glass to sit inside the overall height of the hour glass in the base is about 5 7/8" tall.

**Q: mine only lasts 28 seconds. why is this? i am disappointed.**
A: mine is probably less than that, and inconsistent. I didn't buy it to use as a timer though, just as a quick form of entertainment.

**Q: how tall is it actually?**
A: Brought it as a gift already sent it. It arrived in an envelope it was around 6 inches tall. Hope that helps
