**Q: Can metal utensils be safely used without damaging the surface of the mat?**
A: I would not use metal utensils.  I purchased it for rolling of fondant and pastry.  It sticks well to the table surface and does not slide around.

**Q: Is this a mesh? I plan to use as a protection surface on top of an induction hob. I don't want bits and liquids passing through the mat onto the hob.**
A: Not mesh. It's a flexible silicone sheet. Great for rolling pastry out or doing pizza dough

**Q: Is this printed on both sides**
A: Only on one side but you can see the print on the other side. However, after several use and wash, bits of the prints came off!!

**Q: How thick is this mat, please?**
A: Dear customer,
Thank you for your question. This extra large silicone baking mat is 0.04cm thick. 
It is more durable than pure silicone mat as it is reinforced with fiberglass. At the same time, this mat is thin enough to stay folding for small oven.
If you prefer thicker silicone mat, there are 0.07mm silicone mat reinforced with fiberglass in smaller size. Please kindly browse our product list, thank you.

i have given it 4 stars because I am not sure what I expected, on a first look it seems a little on the thin side, however it may prove to be good after some use, the size is good and should do for almost any job. It will be interesting to see how it holds up when using pastry cutters on it. Overall an ok item.
