Discovered a tiny spring loose in box which turned out to have popped off the walking foot. Much fiddling and swearing using a pair of needle nosed tweezers to get it back on, then added two dots of superglue to keep it there. Time will tell as to lifespan of this foot, however given that a branded walking foot easily costs twice the price of this whole set I'm not expecting much from this generic budget walking foot, if it keeps going for a month or two I'd be happy. The rest of the feet are just what I needed to update an older machine so I'm happy with my purchase.
