The clasp is actually separate from the belt itself when it arrives in the box which allows you to trim the belt to the perfect length to fit you. It even has little markings on the inside showing you where to cut per waist size. The clasp and belt are both rather durable, I've dropped it onto concrete a few times and it's still doing its job.
