It is not to heavy like a overweight terry cloth fabric so if you want the "high end hotel" robe feel this one is not for you at all. I use it instead of a towel to dry off after a shower and it does the job. The color is fabulous. NOTE- I have not washed it yet so I will need to see how it hold ups.UPDATE From my June review: After a few washes this robe loses the feel of terry cloth and feels more like worn out old dish cloth. There is a reason the price is do low.
