I am not sure whether to use Dura Seal Wax and Cleaner or Dura Seal Dura Finish?** A: If it's a light wood (maple or light oak) and really dirty I'd use the cleaner and wax. But if it's not dirty I'd just the sealer. In living room and dining room I have light oak. These floors were sanded about 35 years ago and I was told that it had been sanded once before and no more. I also was introduced to the exact same product for the floors. In the last year I have been pulling up old carpet in two rooms. These rooms and the closets were laid with a fairly wide wood which could be pine or whatever they used back than. I cleaned the floors and used dura seal on them with no problem. I do not know how these floors were originally finished but the surface was slightly darker than the underlying wood. The dura seal did not do anything untold to these floors. At times I may have let it dry too long as it was somewhat difficult to polish. It is a satin finish so it is not real glossy. I have also been cleaning and waxing large portions of the rooms with oak floors and decided after looking at all sorts of products to use plain paste wax that is in a can. You can get a better coat, but it is longer and harder to do. I just felt I didn't want to use a liquid wax since I can't get Bruce. You may want to try a small amount on part of the floor that is generally hidden. My answer shows that I am paranoid about the oak floors. **Q: My teakwood kitchen floors were sealed 30 years ago, subsequently they have only been waxed.
