Fill each compartment of the tray with potting soil so it is 3/4 full. Use a soil mix that contains material such as peat moss for good drainage and acidity. Place one hosta sprout in each compartment. Make an indention in the soil at the center of a seed compartment. Place the sprout in the indention and carefully add soil around the sprout for support. Add water to moisten the soil and place in a warm location that will not be in direct sunlight. Transplant hosta into new containers every 1 to 2 months to provide enough room for root development. Consider using foam cups as containers. Transplant hosta outdoors after a period of 8 to 9 months. Select a shaded location with well drained and slightly acidic soil in which to plant the hosta. And they are just little flakes not little hosta pod-type seeds. I have no idea what these are. They are small squarish flakes and the packet came with lot of garbage from whatever they were produced from. If they had been hostas I wouldn't mind cleaning them but they weren't. And whatever they are they have failed to show any signs of germinating. What of waste of time! Both arrived in the same package from China labeled as jewelry. The seeds were in small clear sealed bags. Neither bag was labeled to identify which plant and neither contained instructions for planting. I researched the internet to find comparable plants which includes photos of seeds to help me identify each plant.
