This civer does just that. I live in California and we juat had a night where it rained really heavy and this cover held up for the moat part. However when I did remove it the day after the rainfall my washer was wet to the touch, moisture went through the fabric but it did not soak my machine nor did the water penetrate through it enough to where my machine filled with water and thw controls were absolutely dry.
