Step 2: Hold the inserted ink cartridge against a strong surface, such as a table top, and press down firmly on the pen to force the cartridge to click into place. You will hear a click when the back of the pen nib pierces the cartridge. Step 3: Screw the nib back onto the pen and place the calligraphy pen upright for a period of around one minute, prior to use. Then gently press it onto a scrap piece of paper to start the ink flow – it should only take a couple of strokes for the ink to start flowing. You’re now ready to start writing!

**Q: Do you HAVE to use cartridges, or can you use free ink? And if so, where do you buy additional cartridges?**
A: You do not "have" to use cartridges. There is a bladder converter included. You can fill this in one of two ways, you can dip it into ink and squeeze the converter, let it expand to suck in the ink. The other way, which I use, is to have a syringe. Fill the syringe with ink, then use that to fill the converter. It's up to you. I also use the syringe method to refill the cartridges.

**Q: Is the picture of the actual set or not. I have seen the same picture for other sets.**
A: The picture is the actual set.

**Q: It appears as though these nibs are of a gold tone, is this in fact the case?**
A: Yes, they are yellow/gold in color, but they are made of brass.

**Q: Does it have letter making guide our instructions?**
A: An instruction booklet comes in the package.
