Sorry I don’t have a definitive answer for you. **Q: how uniform is the illumination?** A: Very uniform and bright. I bought for a young niece but found the light around the edge not as protected as others I own and was much too harsh on her eyes. I own 3 other brands and haven't come across the uniformity problem. Amazon's pretty good about returns too. I bought The one with the felt carry bag and clips for that niece, it's a keeper.
