Occasional use is ok and continual denture sores require denture adjustments. But it would be very difficult to over use this med on small oral lesions. **Q: Is Bexident the same thing** A: I don't think so, Benzodent is used for pain associated with dentures. Which works very well for me. I've learned to avoid toothpastes that contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) which has lessoned the frequency and severity and I used to use another benzocaine product called Kank-a for pain relief. But it was only mildly effective because the consistency is like syrup and never stayed on a sore long enough to do much good. After using several other products that contain benzocaine 20%, this Benzodent has landed as my new favorite! It's a paste that actually *sticks* to the sore keeping it numb for hours. The other product would liquify with saliva and run all over my mouth and even down my throat so I'd have lots of pockets of numbness. Kind of a mess. Benzodent is far better at localizing the medicine and stays only where you need it. Apply a half-pea size of it onto a cotton swab and apply directly to the sore spot. Once in place, I'm able to brush my teeth and even eat spicy foods completely pain free! Same active ingredient, it's the consistency that makes all the difference.
