BUT, something was fishy about the S30v I received. I have owned and handled quite a few genuine Kershaw products over the years. One thing is always true; the blade always has the model number and steel type engraved somewhere on the blade. The Blur I received had no markings anywhere on the blade. I contacted Kershaw and asked them what this could mean. They told me that either the blade is counterfeit, or it was a replacement blade. Either way they told me that it was doubtful that they would be able to offer warranty services if anything went wrong. Maybe I just got a bad copy, but whatever the reason,I returned it and ordered it from an “authorized” Kershaw dealer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An excellent knife for all-purpose everyday use. Highly recommend. *by K***K on Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2017* This is an excellent knife. I have the S30V steel version, and I highly recommend it. The action is fast and intuitive. The blade is lower visibility and holds a good edge. The sharpening is very reasonable as there are no serrations to complicate the process. I carry this every day in a law enforcement capacity. It has been with me for just over a year, and I've sharpened it 1 time. Most of the time it is liberating tape from boxes or cutting zip ties. However, I would not hesitate to use this as a last stand or defensive knife. The G10 textured grip is excellent and doesn't slip in gloves or with sweaty hands.You don't need to buy a dozen knives for all of the possible applications. Find one that fits your pocket size, has an agreeable carry weight, and gives you some aesthetic pleasure visually. For me, the design of this knife does all of those things. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Thumb Studs: Good Idea, but Poorly Executed *by N***W on Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2018* This knife has more pros than cons. This is what's good:1. I love the blade shape and size, and it is made from a really good midrange steel.2. The handle/body is low profile (and by this I mean relatively THIN), making it a nice carry in the pocket.3. At 3.9 oz it is a relatively LIGHT knife for its size.4. I was worried about some of the negative reviews regarding the locking mechanism easily giving way, and the liner lock indeed does NOT seem to catch much of the blade base. However, I've tested my Blur against fairly strong pressure, and the blade does not seem to budge at all.5. The blade opens beautifully with the assisted opening and well-placed thumb studs.6. There has been no blade play since I received my Blur: it remains solid & wiggle-free, with light usage thus far.7. The blade closes smoothly and it sits perfectly centered in the handle when closed.8. The blue aluminum makes for a striking look (I wish i could find the older red version).9. I do NOT find the Trac-Tec inserts to be too sticky for smooth pocket removal/insertion.10. Made in USA: i believe things should LAST if you take care of them, so appreciate the Blur's being made in the USA: I don't hate my Chinese made CRKT, but I'd much rather own fewer knives of better quality than a bunch of less expensive cheaply-made knives that are more likely to have chronic little issues and perhaps fall apart, relegating them to the camp-kitchen box with my Swiss Army knives (because of a loose blade or screws on the handle coming loose, for example). As a point of clarity, I really like my Swiss army knives and they've held up nicely for many years, but they just are not designed for everyday carry.All that being said, the Blur has some issues that prevent me from purchasing another (I would otherwise have liked to own a few of these in different colors), at least not until I see that some upgrades have been made. First and foremost I have a problem with the thumb studs (you'll see similar complaints throughout the reviews of different colored Blurs). The thumb studs are angled, presumably for leverage; this is a nice idea, but unfortunately it is poorly executed. The studs angle up to a relatively sharp point, AND they are roughly grooved like a metal file. While none of this bothers my thumbs when deploying the blade, the sharp points and the rough edges do catch on my pockets with insertion and removal (unless performed slowly and carefully).A fast & easy draw is important to me, but I don't want to destroy my clothing more quickly than necessary, so THESE THUMB STUDS REALLY DETRACT FROM THE BLUR'S USEFULNESS AS A POCKET KNIFE. And if you prefer tip-up carry (as I do), don't even bother moving the clip, since tip-up positioning would only result in the sharp little thumb studs traveling deeper into your pocket, thereby being even more likely to destroy your pants as the knife is either being drawn or put-away.A secondary issue for me personally is the position of the clip holes for tip-up carry; I wish they were drilled closer to the tip of the handle, for a deeper pocket carry (the lanyard hole is not only useless to me, but it sits at the tip, in the way of this being possible). In contrast, check out the Benchmade Barrage and its smartly-placed lanyard hole.Again, I do like the Blur, but NOT enough to purchase another one. Kershaw really needs to (1) shave a fraction of an inch off the angled tip of the thumb studs so that they no longer come to a sharp point, and polish these tips down so they're smooth, and (2) smoothen-up the flat faces of the studs, leaving them LIGHTLY textured. As it is now the thumb studs can double as the best nail file you've ever owned; in fact, if these studs were any larger you could probably use them to finish the edge on a freshly cut piece of sheet metal. This is simply unnecessary.That degree of abrasion is certainly not conducive to using the Blur without tearing your clothing to shreds. Mind you, this is supposed to be a pocket knife, NOT A RASP!
