He details ACORN's beginnings and how they evolved from the 1960s and how their philosophy fits the formula of Cloward, Piven, and Alinsky. Vadum also does a masterful job in tying ACORN's evolution into a political machine and the culmination of that strategy in the rise of Barack Obama to power. Not content to stop there, Vadum details all the various splinter groups that ACORN activists ended up in around the country following the ACORN scandal and subsequent bankruptcy. This book is well researched and detailed, but it's not something you have to slog through.
