The Alnico II Pro Slash was designed to give Slash's other Les Paul guitars-what he calls his "live guitars"-the exact tone of this legendary instrument.ApplicationWarm, moderate output humbucker. Recommended for jazz, blues, and classic rock.DescriptionLike the standard APH-1 Alnico II Pro, this pickup uses an Alnico 2 magnet. However, the Slash model is wound with just enough boosted output to push a stock Les Paul toward the sweet sustain and rude crunch that characterizes Slash's sound as heard on hundreds of tracks. In addition, it comes with some of the same appointments found on the Seymour Duncan pickups in Slash's '86 recording axe, including single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and wooden spacer. For the true fan, or the player who wants to capture Slash's recorded tone, this pickup is a critical part of the tone chain. This is same pickup found in the newest Gibson® Slash model Les Paul.Complete setupThe Slash aficionado will use a pair of these pickups to capture that unmistakable tone. This pickup matches well with the SFX-11 Twin Tube Blue all-tube overdrive-distortion stompbox for singing leads and authoritative chording.GuitarsWhile designed for use in a Les Paul, this pickup works well in any well-balanced humbucker-equipped guitar. Also works great with hollow and semi-hollow body guitars. ## Features - When Slash was given the honor of having a Gibson Les Paul Signature model built, we sent over the same Alnico 2 Pro humbuckers that he has used for decades. Turns out, the new guitars sounded noticeably different than the original. So, we accepted the challenge to make him a new pickup that would make all of his new signature guitars sound just like the original AFD Les Paul. The result is the Slash Signature Model humbucker. - We used a different mag wire and winding spec that, when combined with the Alnico 2 bar magnet, provided exactly what was needed to push a stock Les Paul toward that familiar sustain, crunch, and midrange that was so characteristic of the tone of Slash’s original Derrig Les Paul copy. The Slash humbuckers are hand built in Santa Barbara the same way we built his originals in the 80s, with a nickel silver bottom plate with long mounting legs, single conductor braided lead wire, maple spacer, paper tape, and wax potting. - P.S. In case you were wondering, yes, the set that you buy is exactly the same as what Slash’s mighty tech, Ace Bergman, installs in Slash’s guitars. When the boss needs some new APH-2s, we pull them right out of production stock. - Handmade in Santa Barbara, California: Seymour Duncan takes pride in designing and crafting our products to create the most amazing sound possible. That starts with providing an environment that attracts and retains our great team of engineers, product designers and craftsmen, many of whom have been with the company for decades. - DCR Bridge: 8.90, Magnet: Alnico 2, 1c Braided Shield Cable ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B003EDY9OS | | Best Sellers Rank | #84,552 in Musical Instruments ( See Top 100 in Musical Instruments ) #984 in Electric Guitar Pickups & Pickup Covers | | Body Material | Wood | | Brand | Seymour Duncan | | Brand Name | Seymour Duncan | | Color | Black, 1c Braided Shield | | Connector Type | 1/4 Zoll Klinke | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 13 Reviews | | Finish Type | Painted | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00800315035649 | | Included Components | Nickel-Silver baseplate mit langen Montagebeinen, einzelner geflochtener Bleidraht, Ahornabstand, Papierband und Wachsroten | | Item Dimensions | 7.09 x 3.54 x 1.57 inches | | Item Highlight | Slash bridge tone delivers thick mids, sweet highs and singing Alnico 2 sustain.
