It is flexible rubber but a "stiff" flexible rubber...it pretty much stays in it's coiled shape but you can drape it across some tree branches and it will mostly stay draped. The paint job is mediocre (yellowish rubber airbrushed with black), but it is sturdy & has a nice weight to it. It almost feels like a real snake (basing this off of handling my real pet snake). The photo of it raising its head led me to believe that it had a wire inside for posing, but this is not the case. It is limp and posing is limited, as it will naturally spring back into a coiled shape if you don't have a way to hold it in place.
