Or is there a way to secure it in place?** A: I bought the cover specifically to use in rainy and windy conditions. It works great. Stays in place and keeps charcoal dry. Because in use mine just to cover a Dutch oven set on a metal base, I installed brass grommets in the sits to allow air to feed the charcoal. Otherwise, charcoal will go out. **Q: Can you use this on a 12 inch dutch oven? over a camp chef double burner unit?** A: Yes, this works the same over any propane stove. With a camp chef you will also need a flame tamer to distribute the heat and not burn the middle of the dutch oven. However we recommend the Volcano as Charcoal is always better when cooking with a dutch oven. **Q: What does it mean “not intended for open food”? It didn't show that in the pictures & descriptions , or youtube** A: The cover can flake part of the foil into open food. Use with covered foods only. Do not use with an uncovered skillet. **Q: What does it mean “not intended for open food”?** A: not real sure but I have only used mine on a gas campchef stove, where I put it over a dutch oven with a "lid" this cover "creates an oven" for when you don't want to use briquettes... I think you need to use the lid on your pot so it doesn't bubble and spatter onto this cover and cause a grease fire... or maybe as it starts wearing out, the interior of cover might 'flake' into your food.
