Item was undamaged and well packed. There is no brand name mentioned on the product. It has both Digital RCA and Optical TOSLink inputs. I bought it to hook up the digital (SPDIF) out on my Sony DVD to my audio amplifier.I also bought the following Amazon Basic RCA cables:1. 8-Feet Digital Audio Coaxial Cable ( To hook up my SPDIF output of DVD to SPDIF input on unit).2. 1/2-Male to 2-Male RCA Audio interconnects - 8 feet, 2-Male to 2-Male (To hook up Stereo L and R outputs of unit to my home audio amplifier).At first when I made the connections it did not work at all. I then tweaked audio setting for SPDIF on my Sony DVD player and set digital audio out to PCM mode.In description of item it is also written that it can Convert analog L/R signals to digital SPDIF or TOSLink. I did not try it but I believe it just cannot be true. The Input and Output RCA terminals on unit are clearly labeled. So it is almost certain that the unit can only convert SPDIF to L/R analog and not vice versa.I have only been using the product from 26-Oct-2019 so may be too early to tell about reliability and longevity of product. For now it is working good. I have not yet tried out the Optical input option. A light hiss is heard in audio when unit is powered on and music is not playing, nothing very noticeable though. The hiss is more if cables are connected and unit is not powered up. For now I am satisfied with the product.After 2 months of use:I am now using the unit to connect my MI android 50 inch Smart TV to my audio amplifier. MI tv only has HDMI (ARC) and SPDIF coaxial output for sending audio to external devices.If I power up the converter unit and external amplifier first, than there is a very noticeable hiss. When TV is switched on the hiss reduces drastically. I am not sure if the problem is with the Converter unit proper or the cheap 5 V Dc adapter supplied with unit. Will try with another 5V source and check and give feedback.
